Berea Christian Church Float Project
Photo Gallery
Ashland Sesquicentennial 2007

For your enjoyment, these are the photos depicting our progress in constructing our float for, and our participation in, the Ashland Sesquicentennial parade.  So many had a hand in this project that one would be hard-pressed to point to yeoman service without pointing to everyone involved.  Let it be said, simply, that we have much talent at Berea and that those involved in this project dedicated many a Monday evening to the successful completion of this float.  Our efforts paid off in the fact that we won First Place in the float competition.  We had tons of fun.  We are a close knit family.  We hope that you enjoy these pictures.  You can make up your own captions if you like.  Picture #1 (top left, below) depicts the spirit of the whole project and the pics (with one or two exceptions) are in order from start to finish.  The dog?  That's Yogi!  He kept things lively!

Two of a kind!                                                      Matt and his buddy, Yogi

Starting from scratch                       Do you have a union card?

That's the boss in the green shirt.                      This is precise work . . . maybe.

Am I in your way, Yogi?                                        Yep!  It's my shop and I ain't movin'.

Made from scraps.                               Look closely.  See Paul's two bosses?

What's three little marks past a half inch?      I cut it twice and it's still too short!

Exactly four feet and thirty-two inches!           He moves so fast he's a blur!

Red side down, Deb!                                         Don't push your luck, Harry!

Deb and Deb.  Laying bricks?                           Trying to get a feel for the whole thing.

Michelangelo?  Could be!                 I don't need a foreman, Ron!

The drapery department.                                    Test run and Yogi wants on the float.

Ron, the photographer, likes it.                        No age discrimination in a float project.

What's with the chartreuse hat?                     You're right!  No one listens or looks!

Diane, the boss, checking things out.                O.K., Slow it down up there!

Shakedown cruise: Just about over.                 Think tank?  Nah!

Why this picture, Amanda?             We're just about ready for the parade!

9:30 a.m. Lined up and waiting.                       And waiting.

Still waiting.                                                     It's getting hot out here!

But, there are hotter places.                           Are we there yet?

Finally!                                                             The Berea STARS leading the way!

Hey! Throw me some candy!                            Some of the STARS.

Preaching along the way!                                  Marvin has somebody's attention.

Yep!  That's our Carlinville Jan (on right)!

And so it goes.  From scratch, to float, to parade downtown, and on to James Park.  Weeks in the making; over in the blink of an eye.  We had tons of fun.  Needless to say, but we'll say it anyway, we enjoy one another's company.  We love one another.

We are God's Kids at Berea Christian Church.
